There once was a boy who was a Halloween fanatic. He loved dressing up for Halloween, he loved pulling pranks and watching horror movies, and above everything else... he loved candy. One fateful year, while he went trick-or-treating, he visited a house. This house was creepy as hell! It was big, it was old, it smelled like a grandmother and it was owned by a happy, old rich couple. The boy came here thinking that he would be handed out big chocolate bars, because it was a rich person's house but when he knocked on their door... he was handed a bag of that shitty candy that nobody likes! Tootsie rolls, shitty flavoured dum-dums, those weird... peanut things... needless to say, the boy was heartbroken. He was so heartbroken that he died, right there on their porch and now, every Halloween he goes out and finds people to curse. He wants everyone to suffer the same way he did!

Everybody is already suffering from his curse!! Send this to ten people to break the curse, or to avoid getting cursed, or you'll be stuck looking freakier than usual for the rest of your life!!!!!!!!!!

It's good to have a place to crash, while Virgil is desperate to stay away from the fever. His room at the treehouse is comfortable, housing the four singed shirts he had been able to save, and his nose ring. He had fought a lot to keep that, he wasn't losing it now.

And of course he had to thank Fran for taking him in. The kelpie... set a fire somewhere in his gut, a bit of excitement he didn't often feel.

The only way he could think to thank him was a cherry tart, baking late into the night as he drums his fingers along the counter, entirely unaware of all the sound that two feet and six hands make, like a football drumline.

It wasn't amazing, all things considered. The main rooms of the house were taken, but there was always a wealth of space in the treehouse walls, more than enough rooms in the darker depths to house a faerie who's down on his luck. It was easy enough to convince the other household members, at least. Convenient and very much just a temporary place to live while the city goes wild.

By some twist of chance, most of the house was awake at night. Charles, being a werewolf, slipped into a nocturnal state while Fran, being a moon nymph turned kelpie, tended to prefer the night anyway. The six-handed drumming is enough, at least, to catch the kelpie's attention. For now, at least, it's just Virgil and Fran at home.

After slipping down from the upper floor, almost silent footsteps sneak up behind the bug, only revealing themselves as they step in front of Virgil with a smug little grin, one arm cuuurling about Virgil's buggy waist in that playful manner they're so fond of.

"Mmmh, smells delicious~ What'cha making?" Oh yeah, that smell was also a big motivator for the sudden approach.

[ Thankfully, Fran has an external structure for people to leave mail inside. It also appears to have a small perch and nest for... some reason? Hmm.

It's equally likely, amusingly, that on another night of that week Majma might spot a box on his balcony (and a feather or two from the kelpie's wings nearby). He's not the only one dropping off small gifts to close friends!

Inside the box is a sturdy wooden comb for fur, engraved with Flowers and Majima's name, and a note. ]

Virgil doesn't know how to knit, but he did find someone who makes very soft wool socks he's happy to gift to Fran for Christmas.
