[ It takes a bit of effort to pull themselves into a sitting position, wings stretching out slightly in the wider space before folding up again. Everything below the waist seems to be bundled up in blankets, perhaps to stay warm? Even though kelpies are fine in the cold.

[ Sometimes what a convalescing monster needed was for someone else to stick around. Majima didn't know the exact extent of Fran's injuries, but their caginess and the way they kept hidden were suggestive. ]

[ He rummaged through the bag, and took out a box of pastries, which he set by Fran. ]

[ One hand scoops up the box, fishing out whatever looked the most interesting, in this case a blueberry scroll, and setting it back down closer to Majima. The response comes slightly delayed after their first bite, perking up at least a little from the treat.]

Yeah- Tea would be nice, as well.

[ Followed by another bite, and another. Faster than usual, there's an odd hunger in their focus. If he looks away, the pastry will be almost gone by the time he looks back. ]

Maybe an hour or two? I don't wanna impose.

[ Or tire Fran out, as company was wont to do. Majima made his way to the kitchen, and when he came back, it was with a tray in hand. ]

Still want your tea with sugar?

[ They haven't been eating well... or much at all since they got back. Just slightly holding onto composure where they can.

Fran nods, dusting off the last of the treat and briefly eying the box again before focusing on Majima instead. ]

It's fine... Some company might do me some good, I suppose. [ Easier now that it's here. ] Yes please.

Where did you say you got these from, by the way? They're very good.

[ Look, maybe no one should ask him these questions. He'd dutifully add some sugar to Fran's tea and hand over that cup. ]

Although I don't think Christmas is normal to Ryslig, so maybe they got the idea off a monster.

They're good. Monsters have been introducing it since they've been here... It seems to be growing though.

[ Another slight adjustment to sit up awkwardly, cradling the teacup with both hands and taking a careful sip. ]

Speaking of... Do you have anything planned for the holidays?

[ Majima's expression softened a little. ]

I'm going to spend it with Tim. Christmas ain't really the same in Japan as it is in the States; it's more of a romantic one.

[ Just going to casually drop that, apparently. ]

[ There's a little blink in Recognition. The name Tim sounds familiar, at least. It's the first time they've heard it from Majima though. ]

Ah. That sounds nice. The way it was described to me before, felt kinda like it was focused on gifts and spending.

[ Newf perks up from his spot, half-buried in the pile of pillows and blankets around Fran it seems. That big dopey head turning to look at Majima curiously. Fran chimes in. ]

He's mostly been hanging out with me... Would probably appreciate a walk sometime if you had the energy.

Yeah, there's still some of that. The stores play Christmas music and they set up trees and lights and so on.

But it's a great time to go out to a restaurant for some one-on-one time. Or with friends.

[ Majima reached out to give the dog's ears a scratch. ]

Sure, I can play with him on my way out. Really worried about ya, ain't he?

Mhm- I guess that's still kinda the same here. I used to do solstice celebrations since that was easier to manage alone.

[ It was also just a much older tradition, especially among those friendly to nymphs. Their eyes glance over to Newf, leaning over to pat along his back since it was closer and nodding. ]

Yeah... He's a sweetheart, really. If you do, he's got a favorite ball as well. Just over, uh, here. One sec.

[ A few more sips, finishing off the tea a bit quickly to slouch over and set it to the side. The kelpie's wings unfurl a bit and almost flap as they crawl over the pillow fort on their arms to fish out the hidden toy.

Though, as they do, the blanket falls away slightly to reveal what Fran's been subconsciously hiding. The fabric lifts around their upper legs, what skin is revealed looking fine. But the shape seems to fall off completely afterward, the little window revealing an unpleasant looking stump where their knees should have begun. ]

Ah- here. [ They slide back up, sinking back into their self-made nest and re-folding the blankets around them out of habit. One hand holds out a slightly chewed up red ball. ] If you don't want to run around too much!

[ Majima took the toy. It was an ugly injury, but also more or less what he'd expected. Just not when he expected to see it. ]

Thanks. I'll be sure and give him some exercise.

[ And, you know. Not chase it himself. ]

...They really hurt a lot of people.

[ Hurt them so badly, in fact, that Majima had thought surely they'd lose more than they had. ]
